Retreat
The Yoga of Awareness, a 14-day 100h Teacher Training Course or Immersion, in the tradition of Yogi Bhajan.
Dates & options
Teaching language: English, translated into German if necessary. Arrival on Day 1 is 14.00 – 17.00; the course ends on Day 14 at 13.00.
Summary
Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness. Rather than working only with the physical body, the practice combines kriya (sequences with a specific energetic effect), asana (postures), pranayama (breathwork), silent and dynamic meditation, mantra chanting, deep relaxation and contemplation.
The practices work on body, mind and breath together, and support a steady, settled daily life.
The course is held at Shankar Prasad Ashram near Gokarna. William and Robine teach the original teachings of Yogi Bhajan, in a form that is easily understood and applied in daily life.
The 100h TTC and the Immersion both serve beginners, practitioners and teachers at all levels; the intensity of the practice is adjusted to each person. In the Teacher Training part of week 2 there are workshops on warm-ups (traditional sun salutations and Kundalini Yoga warm-ups), Kundalini Yoga asana, the main mudras (energetic seals of the hands and body), kriya sequencing and teaching methodology.
All participants can gain their own teaching experience under the guidance and supervision of Robine and William. This part of the course is optional, and worth trying even if you do not intend to teach later.
Question-and-answer sessions and sharing circles run through the course. By the end you will have a working understanding of the practice, the ability to carry on a safe self-practice at home, and the grounding to share it with others if you choose.
Whether or not you intend to teach afterwards, what the course asks of you is openness and a willingness to learn.

Highlights
There are breaks during the day for reading, writing, walks or beach time, supported by regular periods of silence. One full day of silence each week gives time to go deeper within.
Each week has a free afternoon for rest and for visiting the surrounding temples, countryside and beaches (excursion expenses are not included in the course price).
