Daily schedule
The day at Shankar Prasad follows a simple Satyananda routine, sadhana, chanting, karma yoga and rest, from the rising bell to the evening satsang.

Silence is kept after evening chanting until after breakfast the following day, and at all times in the sleeping areas. Sadhana means spiritual practice or study.
Through the week
Weekly schedule
On top of the daily routine, the week has its own rhythm, cleansing practices, market day, sunset meditation and the Saturday havan.
Sundays
Sunrise & seva
5:30 AM, Sunrise meditation. A day off for experienced volunteers; new volunteers assist. 7:30 PM, Volunteers' Karma Yoga meeting to allot seva (selfless service).
Mondays
Courses begin
Courses start.
Tuesdays
Cleansing & chanting
6:45 AM, Shat Karmas (cleansing practices), Rs. 400 each person. 8:00 PM, Special chanting.
Wednesdays
Courses continue
Courses continued as programmed.
Thursdays
Market day
4:30 PM, Market day — shopping, swimming or a walk. Optional dinner in town, with advance notice required.
Fridays
Sunset meditation
4:15 PM, Clean-up around the Ram temple. 5:15 PM, Sunset meditation at Shelly beach (if requested) or at the Ram temple.
Saturdays
Havan day
7:00 AM, Swimming and putting up posters (optional breakfast in Gokarna). 3:00 PM, Havan preparation. 5:30 PM, Havan (sacred fire ceremony for cleansing and energising), followed by prasad (holy food). 7:45 PM, Extra cultural program / kirtan.
