The meditations

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra

The best-known practice of the Satyananda Bihar School of Yoga. Lying down, awareness moves step by step from outer sounds through body, breath and mind to the deep subconscious, releasing tension and opening deeper consciousness.

Deepening

Advanced Yoga Nidra

Five or more advanced practices, including Creative Visualization, Chakra Visualization, Healing Visualization, Facing Fears and Phobias, Inner and Outer Space, Peeling the Onion (examining your life roles), Forgiveness, and Creating Your Future.

Foundation

Meditation Medley

How to sit comfortably and still, how to begin meditating, how to steady a wandering mind, how to deal with pain, and how to go deeper into your present practice.

Breath

Ajapa Japa

Meditation on the breath with a universal or personal mantra, calming, focusing and purifying the mind and turning it inward. The breath becomes a constant companion and a faithful guide.

Witnessing

Antar Mouna Meditation

Antar mouna is inner silence: witnessing the senses, thoughts and emotions, stepping back from them, and settling into the quiet inner space of energy and awareness.

Gazing

Tratak

For those who find closed-eye meditation difficult: steady gazing at a candle flame, sunrise, sunset or another natural point of focus. Traditionally used to calm a restless mind, improve concentration and support sleep.

Mantra

Mantra Meditations

Mantra chanting in its three forms, Vaikhari (aloud), Manasic (mentally) and Upanshu (silently), with Likhit Jap (writing the mantra), Chankramanam (walking with mantra), and the yantras associated with them.

Inner screen

Chidakasha Dharana

Exploring and experiencing the inner mind screen of our own consciousness, and actualising what is seen there through artistic expression.

Chakras

Chakra Shuddhi

Purifying, balancing and energising the chakras through breath, visualisation and mantra. A complete practice in itself, and preparation for Kriya Yoga and a safe kundalini awakening.

Personality

SWAN Meditation

Devised by Swami Niranjanji to look plainly at your own Strengths, Weaknesses, Ambitions and Needs. A practice for cutting through confusion, finding your focus and making a future real.

Sound

Om Chanting

The varieties of Om chanting, taken inside the vibration of a group, where many chanting as one becomes its own experience of yoga, of union.
