Introduction
The course introduces Indian spirituality through two major scriptures: the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita. It is Jnana Yoga (the yoga of the intellect), taught in the traditional teacher–student way by teachers with decades of practice. Satsang (spiritual discussion), meditation, chanting and kirtan, with daily classes on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita.
Residential students can also join the daily sessions of asana, pranayama, Yoga Nidra, chanting and meditation, and take part in ashram life. Mornings are asana and pranayama; afternoons are the course classes.
In our ashram we aim for ‘simple living and high thinking’, with organic farming and a play school. We are not a resort, guest house or a hostel. Life here runs much like a spiritual family: we eat, chant, meditate, sing, learn, work and play together.

Week 1 · Patanjali Yoga Sutras (Verses)
Ganesh started practicing yoga and Indian Spirituality in 1984 when he was initiated by Swami Vishnu Devananda in the Sivananda ashram in South India. Ganesh continued to receive spiritual and wellness training under Masters of various traditions. His yogic teachings include guidance in Ayurveda constitutions (3 doshas), adapting to the needs of students. He also practises and teaches vegetarian and ayurvedic cooking in France and Italy.
Weeks 2 – 4 · Indian Spirituality
Residential dates:
Bhagavad Gita means “Song of the Spirit”. It raises the fundamental questions of life: “Who am I?”, “What happens when I die?”, “What is the purpose of my life?”
Over these three weeks the class works through chosen chapters of the Bhagavad Gita, one of the central texts of the Indian tradition, with lectures, discussions, meditations, chanting and kirtan.
Arut was born and grew up in Moscow. He has travelled widely since 1996, lived ten years in Montreal, and has spent the last ten years in India studying its traditions. Since 2008 he has taught yoga, spirituality and personal development.
